my struggle
I am an overweight person. My highest weight was reached in late december at 323 pounds. Science would classify me as morbidly obese. However, since the beginning of this year, I have lost 42 pounds and counting. I have some days where I just want to give up and others when I am so determined I believe I actually scare pounds away. I decided that I had to make my health a priority. I am doing this with the help of God and a single image that stays in my mind. That image is the day I bring home my OTTB. I will not get one until credit card debt is gone and my weight is low enough that I can safely ride. In about 17 months the debt will be gone....so should the weight if I stay on track. I can't wait. The dream of owning a horse of my very own is what drives me. I will have my Dream.

woohoo! You can do it!!
ReplyDeleteI too am an overweight person-always up and down on the scale. I started a doctor supervised wt loss program Feb 23 and weighed 301 at 5'6". Today I weigh 274. I am 55 yo however and a horseowner. I havent ridden in about 9 yrs-I own a 30 yo Connemara cross retired eventer and a 20 TB mare-a gift from her breeder at age 2!! I have never ridden her although she is beautifully trained. She is also an approved Danish WB, main book. She has had 3 foals - TB mare, Connemara X and WB--none bred by me. My vet friend broke her for me before she left for vet school. I gave her to Carole upon graduation from vet school. She returned to me about 5 yrs ago because Carole didnt have time for all 3, and her husband's horse. I love her to death even tho she can be very
ReplyDeletedifficult, esp for the vet. I was pregnant when she came to me--so early manners were not reinforced. My 17 yo daughter now rides her and Jen takes great care of her. We also have a young rescued TB mare my daughter is working with and will also be fostering a mare for CANTER. Maybe if I lose another 100 lbs I can someday ride Jen-she is an awesome dressage mount and loves to hit the trails. She will be 20 May 5 and I will be 56 may 3--its never too late!!!
You are so lucky to have the drive at a young age of 29!! We can cheer each other on if you would like. Your poetry is beautiful. GOOD LUCK ASTEW00!!!!!! We can do it!!
Connie
Thanks Connie! I appreciate the support. I cannot wait to get on the back of my very own horse. It feels so natural. It is hard, but the weight is coming off with each passing day. I can't wait til 80* weather gets here so I can swim it off even faster.
